Artūrs Čukurs is a theatre maker, performer and singer from Latvia, now based in Amsterdam. In his works he inquires personal, poetic and political dimensions of loss and its potential to reveal new ways of relating to the world around and within.

Studied music at Latvian Academy of Music and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, as well as directing for devised and object theatre at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (DAMU). As a musician, performer and co-deviser he collaborates with other artists in Europe.

Currently, Artūrs is at DAS Theatre in Amsterdam to exhaust the language. Until it gives up meaning, until there is just voice and nothing more. By displacing and peeling off layers of communication, he explores what is gained and what is lost in this playful and violent gesture. In the golden age of content, Artūrs seeks to dissolve the medium – casting spells that confuse the very act of perception and prepare us for a world where communication becomes increasingly tricky.
